The inspiration for Irina’s Spring 2008 collection is the cosmopolitan women. “Taking stock of woman in the city I noticed a confident and sensuous sensibility. These women motivated me to design a group of mini dresses and evening clothes this season,” Irina explains.
This season is the epitomy of luxe and rich feminine sensuality. Hemlines come down with transparent fabrics. The spring ’08 collection evokes a sense of freedom and fantasy of the 70’s. Comfortable, relaxed silhouettes channel free-spirited 70's eveningwear. Wild animal prints come alive with lightweight silk and lace. Gently draped jerseys caress the body. Gold and silver lame fabrics of the disco era give the collection a dose a glamour and sex appeal.
Alphonse Mucha's illustrations of "the romantic heroine silhouettes" are reflected in the long floor sweeping evening gowns of the collection. The jewelry draws inspiration from the exoticism and decadence of Byzantine era.
Irina Shabayeva graduated from Parsons school of design. She won the prestigious Saga Award a competition that allowed her to study fur design in Denmark. She went on to work for Adrienne Landau as head designer for two years.
