The Celestino by Sergio Guadarrama Spring/Summer 2009 collection, "Edo to Gres", was inspired by two unique times and places. The Edo Period was the height of the Japanese Empire in which Japan was socially restricting, with little outside cultural influence. Women's clothing was to be alluring but also demure & lady-like, which is the cornerstone of the collection. Every line in their art had a purpose; attention to detail, form, and balance reflected in every aspect of their culture.
Madam Gres was also an essential part of the collection's development. She was truly a master of her craft, with her unsurpassed technical methods and amazing drapes.
Sergio wowed the crowd with his chic, head-turning evening gowns & ultra-feminine cocktail dresses. His collection had beautiful tailoring, flowy silhouettes, and gorgeous silks moving like liquid down the runway. As a young, emerging designer, Sergio is a name to take notice of in the up-coming seasons. He has shown the ability to create to trend, yet season-less evening wear, which is not had by everyone.
