The Marie Marie collection was showcased presentation-style at Agent 001 showroom in Soho, NY. The ambience provided for a sort of intimate atmosphere not usually attainable during a runway show. The collection was very concise, and allowed the designers to show styles in an array of fabrications. They stayed true to their course exploring different drapes, cuts and finishes in viscose jersey, cotton voile, cotton taffeta, and a silk seersucker chiffon, which the team had custom developed to attain the proper width of the stripes.
The color palette played two sides of the spectrum, exploring soft neutrals then jarring the eye with colors like sunflower, aqua, and navy. Marie Marie showed a variety of frocked tops, raw finished pleated skirts, gathered dresses, and a few camisoles. They offered an elegant evening wear dress out of the custom-made seersucker chiffon, with the bodice lined and partially exposed with china silk. This garment explored a variety of finishing techniques, with clean finished garment hems, raw finishing under the bodice and baby hems on the interior.
Marie Marie exhibited a plethora of techniques in this collection, twisting jerseys here and there, leaving some hems raw, some with a baby hem, and various areas on the garments pin-tucked and gently tacked. There are plenty of pieces here that can be mixed and matched, and several that are more than strong enough to stand on their own.
