Fashion Ledge - Doo.Ri
Doo.Ri Spring 2006

Doo Ri Chung has become renowned for creating soft, sultry clothing that reflects a "sophisticated femininity." Since debuting her own label in 2001, her dramatic, draping dresses have graced the pages of Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and In Style. Most recently, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria raved about one of her dresses on the red carpet of the Teen Choice Awards.

A graduate of Parsons School of Design she worked closely with Donna Karan and Stanley Herman before becoming a lead designer for Geoffrey Beene. For her "UPS Delivering Fashions Future'' showing, she found design inspiration in a sepia-toned photograph by Deborah Turbeville. She says that although her clothing reflects certain characteristics, her personal style won't be pinned down.

"My style is constantly evolving," she said. "What I really want my clothes to convey is how a woman feels wearing them.

Born in Seoul, Korea, she emigrated to the United States at age four and grew up in New Jersey. She loves UPS' uniforms because "they're so identifiable. Anytime a company can be identified with a signature color is a significant feat."
