The school has been a fixture of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York for several seasons now, seven years worth to be exact. Each time, some of the recent design grads get the opportunity to show their collections to a crowd of industry professionals and supporters of education and the arts alike. Designers Jarida Karnjanasirirat, Stephina Touch, Ginie C. Y. Huang, Yanfei Fan, Iglika Vasileva Matthews, Liza Quinones, Tanja Milutinovic, and Jie Jessie Liu showcased women's wear collections, two of them collaborative with Fashion and Textile Design students combining their vision. Additionally one very special collaborative collection consisting of four M.F.A. Fashion Design students, five B.F.A. Fashion Design students, and two B.F.A. Textile Design students, had sponsorship by the French Trade Commission (UBIFRANCE). Many mills involved hoped to boost the presence of French textile manufacturers here in the U.S. by highlighting their fabric offerings. As individuals, and as a collective, the students are serious about seizing the moment, and making attendees and the media take notice. Encouraging the talent of the future means nurturing the development from the first step to runway gracing regular.
