Vivienne Tam  NY Fashion Week Spring 2005

Fashion Ledge - Vivienne Tam
Spring 2005

“My inspiration for spring comes from the Miao people.”

The Miao are the minority group of southern China known for their lavishly embroidered costumes and fascinating imagery.

Vivienne Tam’s Spring 2005 collection transform fanciful, colorful costumes, folkloric patterns and motifs into sexy, modern everyday wear. Intricate embroidery, brocading and batik are derived from the natural environment.

The spirit of the season is a muted pallet of blues, purples, plums and jades juxtaposed with neutrals to define and soften the festive tone. Accents of reds, whites, and silvers. Airy fabrics including silk chiffon, silk satin, cotton voile, linen, cotton twill and signature stretch netting.

Patterns are vivid and naturally connected. Squares, circles and spirals are framed by horizontal, virtical, curved, and waved lines. Exquisite embroidery, ornamentation and embellishments flavor the assortment.

This collection is dedicated to the beautiful and colorful Miao people.
