Rosa Cha by Amir Slama  NY Fashion Week Spring 2005

Fashion Ledge - Rosa Cha by Amir Slama

For his spring 2005 collection debut, Rosa Cha designer Amir Slama seduces the Bryant Park audience with the heat and passion of designs inspired by his Brazilian heritage. Motivated by the playful, colorful and highly erotic utopia that identifies Brazil, Slama introduces shockingly high-cut silhouettes, splashes of vivid color blocking, eye-popping original prints and rich textures that transform swimwear into the highest level of fashion. Notably the sexiest 7th on Sixth designer, sending itsy bitsy bikinis down the runway; expect Rosa Cha by Amir Slama to be the most seductive show under the tents this fashion week.
Famous for couture-minded techniques not typically associated with swimwear, Slama continues to impress with an elaborate spring 2005 collection. Bodies are dramatically exposed on the runway, with complex inversion cuts reaching up and around the torso, and intricate draping creating peek-a-boo layers and unexpected asymmetrical cutouts.
As hypnotic as a sunrise on the beaches of Rio, Slama's color palate is beaming with bright pinks, rich oranges and fiery reds. Tie-die hues make a splash in pale salmon and granite grey, and stripes jump off two-piece bikinis in vivid rainbow bright.
Outrageous prints continue to distinguish Rosa Cha pieces from other designer collections in spring 2005. This season Slama dreams of an erotic utopia, creating vibrant patterns for the collection with a mythical phoenix, tropical flowers and exotic fruit. Watch the catwalk come alive with pop art-inspired quirky tanks and sultry skirts.
To keep each season fresh and create texture within his designs, Slama often plays with cutting edge fabrication. Fish leather and frog leather are used this season in structured, ribbon-inspired corseting, shaping the torso and hugging the hips. Ruffles adorn the front and behind of bikini bottoms, and thick chiffon ribbons neatly tie back bandeau tops.
Continuously re-inventing conventional roles of swimwear. Amir Slama produces an over-the-top collection for Spring 2005.
