The b. michael Fashion House presented its stunning Spring 08’ collection and formally introduced for the first time its’ men’s b Michael Homme collection. Sponsored by HSBC Premier, stars and loyal customers like the elegant and hugely talented Cicely Tyson, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, New York Jet’s Kerry Rhodes, Adrianne Bailon from The Cheetah Girls, Diana Ross’s children Rhonda and Evan Ross, Ricky Paul from the “Guiding Light,” Asia from the Pussy Cat Dolls, Danny Simmons and girlfriend, Alaina Simone, Judge Hatchett, Stacey J and the designer Indashio came out to show their support for this designer described by Vanity Fair’s International Best Dressed List editor and fashion show attendee, Amy Fine-Collins as knowing, “all about fit, and that ladylike elegances can still be sensual.” Some of the attendees traveled from around the world, in keeping with the show’s "Kaleidoscope" theme, conveying the designer’s definition of global style. Even the soundtrack of the show, mixed by the legendary Scott Folks, was a melting pot of songs that fused the seven continents, ranging from Asian strings to Salsa soul.
The debut of the b. michael Homme Collection thrilled the audience, each look exhibiting the b. michael touch - classic craftsmanship with charming flashes of surprise, be it in color or texture. Back stage, hairstylist to the stars, Oscar Blandi created both dramatic and elegant looks while M.A.C. Cosmetics adorned models in vibrant colorful palettes many with tribal contours, adding a unique contrast to the sleek sophisticated b. michael designs. Jewelry was provided by Color Story by Robert Leser, Simmons Jewelry Co., and Luz Jewelry for men. Handbags were provided by Clara Kasavina and shoes by Taceri for women and Otabo for men.
“After presenting the collection of colors, textiles and art influenced prints from all over the world, shown on models from various regions of the world, I realize I have only scratched the surface and I know that I will continue to be inspired by this collection's theme... "The KALEIDOSCOPE,” says b. michael of the collection. "Launching the menswear collection was also great fun for me... to showcase clothes for men that have edge, sexiness and masculinity.”
