Fashion Ledge - Zang Toi
“American Woman”
Zang Toi Fall 2002 Ready to Wear collection

Zang Toi paid tribute to his adopted country America by showing his ready to wear collection to a pack crowd of fashionistas. They were moved t a standing ovation after a glorious showing of glamorous parade of patriotic red white and deep navy. The beautifully cut collection offered an array of looks; flounce cocktail dresses, silk organza skirts paired with silk and wool cashmere sets, coordinated navy velvet jackets with chinchilla trim and navy shorts. The gracious display evening gowns in couture satin draped in stars and stripes were for the confident American woman. Of all the collections shown during New York Fashion Week, Zang Toi was the only designer that chose the patriotic theme. He was deeply affected by the events of 9/11 and wanted to express his deep…love and respect for his adopted home.

A review from the New York Daily News “Even the people who felt patriotic clothing is past its prime were won over by Toi’s heartfelt tribute to his country.” Alev Akatar Another tribute was the pedal car that he designed for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. It sold on Ebay Charity Auction for $1,350.00. The proceeds were donated to the Elizabeth Glazer Foundation for Pediatric AIDS. The Zang Toi collection is sold nation wide in Nordstrom, Saks 5th Avenue, Jacobson’s and many fine specialty stores, throughout the country.
