“Modern”, “crisp”, and “clean” all describe Jeremy Laing’s fall ‘08 collection. Models walked the runway sporting rust colored hues in purples, reds, and oranges and in fabrics from silk to charmeuse, providing each woman with an ensemble for each main aspect of her life. There was an outfit to be worn casually, at work, or an evening out on the town.
Laing also re-invented the suit this season by baring backless vests made of silk with perfectly tailored trousers. This season the 20-something year old Jeremy Laing woman will be comfortable, professional, but perhaps most important: fashionable.
The collection also had a geometric feel as well with Laing’s personally designed kaleidoscope print and other details in the seams. The details set this collection apart. Subtle yet still effective eye catching details such as sleeves cut from interesting pattern shapes, and reversed seems shown on the outside of the garment were of note. This young designer revisited classic shapes and pieces and added his own flavor.
