Brother sister duo Christopher and Nicholas Kunz, of Nicholas K, yet again kicked off Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York. As the first "official" show of the season, things got underway in the Studio at Lincoln Center. The collection vibe was modernized bohemian, a soft touch applied to the industrialized future. The structured pieces we've come to know, and expect from the line, were this time featured in a techy function form that balances with the casual draped silhouettes in hues found in nature's playground. With inspiration drawn from 70s movie "Soylent Green" + Cubist/Expressionist painter Lyonel Feininger other add-ins like color pops, blocking, and modern fabrics made for more prominent contrast. This season the lady-models donned shoes by the brand, while accessorized in over-sized spectacles, tight tiny caps and flowing scarves aplenty. The collection impressed with a taste of tradition (for them) and a hint of growth and exploration of the unknown.
