Fashion Ledge - Nautica
Nautica Fall 2007

As leaves turn fiery red, children pluck budding apples in crisp fields, and school bells tinkle in the distance; fall has finally arrived. Nautica welcomes fall with the introduction of The Deck Shirt as well as the new “Nautica Vintage” collection, incorporating updated details into old favorites. The assortment is a wonderful balance of must have items in wear-now weights and looks. In outerwear, new lengths are offered in fresh patterns and unique trim details. A new blend in fleece and outerwear makes for a cozy solution when the first chill is in the air. In woven shirts traveler twill and feather weight herringbone balance the assortment creating great layering pieces. Sweaters continue with the textured “yachtsman” stitch, in a vest, full zip, half zip, v-neck and crew.

The added innovation of Low Power Lycra to Nautica’s sweater yarns make them easy to care for and help maintain their fresh look. The “Nautica Vintage” collection gives the sense of your favorite worn in shirt, soft to the touch, perfect to wear every day with whale bone corduroys or worn denim. This season, Nautica has everything to keep you looking and feeling just right as morning dew turns to frost.

Dress Blues- For fall, the Dress Blues collection is not just to wear around the office. The assortment translates perfectly from a day in the boardroom to a night on the town. Nautica has reinterpreted black, off white, heather grey, khaki, and heather blue for the traditional guy. A splash of yellow is added to the palette for an exciting new twist. Classic stripes are still present in knits created with mercerized yarn, while wovens continue to use fine fabrics with a silky finish. In sweaters, refined pima cotton remains a favorite, and the classic long sleeve polo is brought back to life in cassic herringbone and argyle patterns. The perfect pant in solids and windowpane rounds out the collection, great when paired with a structured jacket and collared shirt for a quick lunch meeting with colleagues or alternately with a favorite fitted tee for drinks with the boys.

Tahoe-Tahoe is a place flanked by lush trees, rustic cabins, and mountains that meet the sky. Inspired by the tradition of Tahoe and the great outdoors, this collection is created from a beautiful palette of dusty neutrals; a mix of rich browns and rustic country colors of hunter, port, gold, and navy. Knits, inspired by fireside dinners, are defined by luxury fabrics including sueded and slub jersey in stripes and solids. In sweaters, intricate jacquard weaves in crew necks are to be paired with flat front khakis. Cotton herringbone in a cargo short and over dyed plaid bottoms are to be paired with The Deck Shirt. Beautiful hunting plaids lay down well with textured knits. The patterned sweaters are the perfect next layer, paired with classic corduroy pants to complete the look. To round out the collection, a microsuede twill blazer is a wonderful, warm piece for chilly evenings under the Tahoe stars.

Berkshire- The Berkshires welcome peaceful hikes beside flowing streams beneath canopies of maple leaves. This collection takes inspiration from a country gentleman strolling in the fresh air. Traditional fall colors of navy, ivy green, cranberry red, heather gray, and cream are accented with yellow, orange, and bright red; the essence of Autumn. Classic menswear patterns of herringbone tweeds, tattersal plaids, and houndstooth carry through the collection paired with worn denim. A button down cardigan and herringbone full zip sweater illustrate the essence of the Berkshire collection. Aged twill bottoms add leather trims to pocket details, perfect for an early morning treck. Outerwear has leather elbow patches on their heritage bomber jacket, great layering over knits. The fireman coat, with its beautiful detailing, ties the collection together with a modern twist. Knits range from poly fleece and interlock to micro pique and pima adding warmth to the group. Whale corduroy in outerwear and bottoms, wool blends and heather twills heighten the level of sophistication in layering. Knits are updated with cozy interlocks, yarn-dyed stripes, and a new long sleeve half-zip model, perfect to keep you warm as the leaves begin to fall.

Nautica Island-Breezes that sweep across island shores inspire the jewel toned color palette of the Nautica Island collection. Wovens are featured in prints on silk and cotton blends, great with silk blend cargo shorts on tanned skin. Floral printed swim trunks and conversational t-shirts add just a dash of fun for the endless days of an island vacation. V-neck sweaters in light weight cotton fabric are to be thrown over the shoulders for an evening stroll on the pier.

Competition- Inherent in human nature is the active spirit - striving to become victorious in competition. True black, charcoal heather, sail white and flare red comes together to create the Competition collection. Combining function and fashion, this collection is perfect for a jog in the park or a trip to the gym. Dry tech double face mesh creates a breathable athletic pique, while French terry and interlock is stylish and comfortable. Separates are featured in polo, full zip, and hoodie, to match active bottoms. Coconut brown, navy, grey heather and sail white add to the collection’s rich look but remain in the competitive pallet. The Competition collection works as well as it wears, as active as you are when it’s time to train for your sport of choice.
