Carolina Herrera  NY Fashion Week Fall 2004

Fashion Ledge - Carolina Herrera
Inspired by the European ski resorts... Gstaad and St. Mortiz... Fall/Winter 2004 mixes traditional elements of ski with extreme luxury. Fur is a must have, whether it is a ski vest, a rich coat or simply a collar. Layering is visible in both day and evening. The winter scarf completes the look, adorning the neck or the waist. For day, a rich palette of midnight blue, aubergine and chocolate prevails. Cashmere jacquard knits, suede bomber jackets and fur ski vests are paired with slim ski pants. Optically pleasing ribbon and geometric prints offset smooth solid double face cashmeres. For evening, graceful weightless silhouettes are fashioned with millefeuilles of organza and chiffon... to contrast rich sumptuous velvet tantalizes the eye. A new dramatic effect is realized with veiled gold lame ribbons allude to a sense of movement. Gold leaf embellishes all... on jackets, furs, cashmere scarves, and even on the evening gowns.
