Costello Tagliapietra  NY Fashion Week Fall 2011

Fashion Ledge - Costello Tagliapietra
The designers drew inspiration this season from the first time they met, 17 years ago. Fur was present at this eco-friendly collection, but the fur used on mittens, hats, and trim pieces were from alpacas that died of natural causes. The super-sized fur mittens were a signature look, color-blocked in orange on the other side. And while the collection had a bit of a 90's feel, the popular inspiration of the 70's was just as apparent. A technicolor striped print was used in various looks, and even punched up with extra beading and sequins for an evening piece. Other than the bright orange and tomato shades, the rest of the collection was rather subdued with very elegant draping and shades of cream and gray.
