The Fall 2006 collection was inspired by the idea of a garden party with Lauren Hutton and Lisa Fonsagrives. Focused on structured volume and power romance, the collection is highlighted by the structured dresses, draped wool jersey separates and romantic silk pieces. A deeper pallete than usual, greys and greens are highlighted with marine blue and sun yellow to create a depth of color that is simply inspiring.
Staged at the Hilton Theatre, the MarieMarie collection started with the models walking down a circular stairway. The collection of green, gray, black and gold jersey pieces alluded to the 50's and 60's. Silk and wool were mixed in, which still managed to keep the collection weightless throughout.
A prominent feature noticeable throughout the collection was the application of a wide satin hem, adding a touch of elegance and grace to the garments. A jersey ruffle shirt, a crepe de chine belted day dress, and a jersey wrap and tie gown, showed us different interpretations than what we have previously seen in jersey. A very wearable collection, with looks easily transitioning between day and evening.
The MarieMarie collection is designed by two women who share a love of fashion, a love of life and the middle name Marie. Having met while studying design at Washington State University, their shared passion brought them back together in New York in the spring of 2003. Their two personalities and styles proved to be the perfect fit for a design and business partnership.
A shared work-ethic, integrity and passion for design quality have helped launch the collection and the company to where it is today. With combined experience in design and production from Donna Karen and Michel Kors, the two started MarieMarie as a tops-only collection. It has since evolved to a full collection of dresses and separates as shown in the Fall 2006 collection.
