Baby Phat was back in the New York tents February 4, 2006 after a hiatus of several seasons. Many of the fashion insiders were unsure of what to expect, but as we were waiting patiently to see what was in store, many commented that they were hoping to simply get in, get seated and see a good show without any commotion. And that’s what happened and within the hour the fanfare began.
This season is reminiscent of the 1950’s stewardess with Pillsbury hats, paired with tailored high collar, tweed coats and matching shorts. Kimora has her finger on the pulse of the young urban woman. She takes risks with the two-piece suits, and leggings. My favorite of that group would be the chocolate mink vest, and cream one piece. Realistically I would wear this with a pair of her denims that were also showcased along with draping evening gowns in iridescent colors of cream and chocolate.
Baby Phat has something for everyone with military inspired garments, metallics, silks and satins. Her blouses can easily transfer from day to evening with silky tanks, ruffles and flounced sleeves and corset styled tops without losing any sex appeal or going too over the top!
Her accessories were a perfect match for each ensemble. Subtle touches of finesse along with the stylish Baby Phat logo were on all bags. Bravo, Kimora! We look forward to seeing what little shimmies you’ll have for spring.
