Palmer Jones’ fall 2006 collection is a chimera based on Cinderella. This means elegance that appears fleeting and models with big hair and sensual detailed makeup. But it also means flirty fun epitomized by their scarlet geisha dress with plum velvet obi.
This season the collection appealed directly to the Palmer Jones’ customer who is not just the young hipster, but also the older more refined woman. Elegance for this older woman means a dark heather grey lotus sweater on top of grey embroidered avenue pants and capped by black gloves, because what says elegance better than gloves? The younger customer will gravitate to the camel labyrinth sweater paired with a camel embroidered pagoda skirt with obi.
This is a dreamy collection that pits wearability with women’s fantasies.
About Palmer Jones
Kathryn and Lindy Jones are identical twin designers who have been based in New York for over 19 years. Educated at the London fashion school Kingston, they have worked for several major fashion houses including Ralph Lauren and Andrea Jovine. They came back together again to launch their own collection 6 years ago. Palmer Jones was born out of a desire to create heirloom, dreamlike pieces. Combining their creativity and technical expertise they have created a line of exquisitely embroidered and tailored jackets. Sensually detailed these items are more than clothes, they are collectors pieces in limited editions. Historical embroideries of the 18th century are brought to life. Each piece is uniquely cut and embellished to appeal to the eclectic, always evolving human spirit. Layered into this collection are urban, modern wovens and knits. Their love of luxurious fabrics from Italy and France meld their European flair and love of the past with the confidence of American sportswear.
