About The Venue Showcase and S30 Productions: S30 Productions Provides Designers with an Alternative to the Tents. With the economic climate has been anything but stable the past few seasons, designers are looking for less costly alternatives to the tents. Without sacrificing the quality of production and presentation, S30 Productions provides the ideal scenario with “The Venue.”
For the Fall 2006 collections the mood was romantic, as The Venue designed a 120 foot white runway with charcoal black walls as a backdrop. With a full schedule of shows and events around the city, The Venue also sees it as imperative to provide an enhanced experience with the inclusion of sponsors including RUSK haircare, SKYN ICELAND, Anna Shea chocolates, Bombay Sapphire, Aveda and TRUMP.
S30 began with group showcases at Parsons in February 2003, presenting to a packed house of media, buyers, stylists and style mavens. Up and coming designers flocked to partners Ron Smith and Greg… as they had few options to and little access to that level of media exposure. The Fall ‘05 show grew to include the debut of the Roy Jones collection. Much like the tents, the entry fee entitles the designer to be free of worry as it relates to production elements like lighting, casting and music. In addition to providing an outlet for fashion shows in New York, S30 also became instrumental in representing the lines to various buyers, creating opportunities in other cities and developing strategic alliances with corporate partners.
S30 Productions moved “The Venue” to the Metropolitan Pavilion last season as the demand began to grow for individual slots and the need for a larger space became more imminent. Co-producer Ron Smith says, “S30 is growing exponentially and we are extremely pleased that our due diligence is paying off. This season is going to be great! We are showing some great designers in the showcase in the Sean John, akademiks, Jedda Khan, Destination U and the debut of supermodel Shakara Ledard’s line, Roxs.” Individual showings are scheduled for Gustavo Arrango, Rusk Hair Care and Alice Dobson.
