Don’t Knock Her Hustle
Interviewed by Odienne Dina Chisolm
Beyonce has definitely become a household name around the world over the years. Some believe Beyonce Knowles has been over exposed and that her talent is not equivalent to her stunning beauty.
This popular opinion became even more familiar after the 2006 movie Dream Girls hit the box office on Christmas day. Beyonce played the role of Deena Jones, who was the average singer in the group but she had the most “camera-friendly” look.
Playing opposite Jennifer Hudson in the movie, who honed the role as Effie White and even won an Oscar for it, people began to verbally attack Beyonce in real life.
Her vocal abilities were constantly being criticized and compared to that of Jennifer Hudson.
Microphone Check One Two…
Interviewed by Odienne Dina Chisolm
Remember rap before there was a specific dance associated with a song? Like before the Laffy Taffy and Chicken Noodle Soup dynamics, there was a place in hip hop where some still had relatable lyrics that not only rhymed but made sense. One liners sometimes would say it all like, “I went from ashy to classy,” Notorious B.I.G. (baby baby!) ...
Lumidee’s Unexpted Stateside Return
Interviewed by Kenyatta D. Pious
Many stars go Hollywood and never return to their roots. Who do you still want to work with?
Oh wow! I think the answer will surprise you: J Lo. You see you paused. Wouldn’t you open up an mp3 that has Jlo featuring Lumidee or vice versa? It would be hot. I love her and everything she has done. I actually sort of look up to her and so I would want to see what we could work out together.
Now What? Tru Life, Is Now What!
By Odienne Dina Chisolm
Roc La Familia’s , Lower East Side born and bred artist Tru Life is still spitting fire with the same passion he possessed since the very beginning.
Tru Life actually stands for, The Righteous Uniting Everybody Living In a Fantasy Enviroment. He got his name Tru Life because every time he would rhyme it would be so personable and hit home to who ever listened.
Anthony Mackie, Wayne Brady Wesley Jonathan and supermodel
Eva Pigford all star in Preston Whitmore’s new film Cross
Over, but does this talented ensemble have what it takes
to satisfy moviegoers?
Cross Over is a basketball based film, but not
just another “boy from the hood striving to become
and NBA star and move his family out the hood,” film
but one with a different message to young black NBA hopefuls.
SHANICE: Every Woman
Dreams
Interviewed by Kenyatta D. Pious
Many of us remember the sultry chanteuse, Shanice, for
her infectious hit, “I Love Your Smile,” which
came out when Shanice was 18 years old. After a 5-year hiatus,
Shanice is back with a new album, “Every Woman Dreams,” which
is also the first single off the album.
Her depth as a singer has matured, which is saying a lot
since Shanice boasts a five-octave range. I had the great
honor of speaking with Shanice about her latest project.
Jagged Edge …Always Most R&B groups seem to come and go, but thank God, for Jagged Edge, longevity has been on their side. Known particularly for popular songs throughout the years like, I Gotta Be, Let’s Get Married, Where the Party At, What’s It Like, just to name a few and now their current hit, Good Luck Charm. Never truly receiving their deserved recognition, Jagged Edge still continues to press forward and produce genuine hits.....

Real
Staying Power….
Legendary Todd Smith
By Odienne Dina Chisolm
Although I’m an LL Cool J fan, I was honestly
all ready to just rip this album apart. “This album,” being
his twelfth album entitled, Todd Smith (his
government). I felt like there’s no way Big
L could still keep it hot with today’s young rappers,
and maybe he thought the same thing.
With songs featuring Juelz Santana, Mary J. Blige, Tearra
Mari and even his one-time, one-minute rival, Jamie Foxx
just to name a few, is it safe to say that Todd Smith
didn’t think he could carry album #12 solo? A-n-d at
40? Or does LL Cool J just know how to give ‘em
what they want??
Meet “Larenzel
Washingtate!”
By Odienne Dina Chisolm
According to recording artist The Game, his beef with
50 in his own words is like “beatin’ a dead dog” and
he’s just focused on getting back in the studio and
finishing his next album with Dre. So I guess we can’t
ask him if he really urinated in 50’s back yard or
is that just a rumor.. oh well. But music isn’t the
only thing keeping Game’s
attention these days, the platinum artist will be starring
in a moving this Spring with Tyrese and Larenz Tate called Waist
Deep.
With Larenz Tate currently being his acting coach and
Denzel Washington being his favorite actor, Game has decided
that his movie name is (drum roll please)… Larenzel
Washingtate! Doesn’t exactly roll off your tongue
the first time, but just keep saying it without trying
to picture Larenz Tate and Denzel Washington in your minds
by force of nature. In the movie game plays a character
called “Big
Meat.” Game says that all he can say about his character
right now is that, “I do a lot of chopping.”
In My Own Words
By Odienne Dina Chisolm
Neyo’s highly anticipated debut album In My Own Words is one of the most promising albums amongst the new group of young R&B artists surfacing the scene.
Having penned such hits like Mario’s Let Me Love You, the Las Vegas native is no newcomer to the industry per se, just a new comer to performing and actually writing the hits for himself. After being so successful behind the scenes, can Neyo hold it down for himself? Well, the jury has deliberated and the verdict is….yes! Read More >>
Still Making Headlines…
By Odienne Dina Chisolm
As much as Jay-Z is with Beyonce in St. Tropez, at the Grammy’s, the BET awards, 40/40 Club and on the floor at the Nets games just to name a few sightings, at the end of the day I believe Jay-Z just wants to kick back and just be who he is …... El Presidente of Def Jam, but somehow, it’s not that easy.
Even after retiring from rap (at least for now because we all know “you can try to change but that’s just the top layer, no matter where you go, you are what you are player,” so he’ll be back) as I was saying, even after retiring from rap, Jay-Z continues to make headlines in hip-hop.
