Juno Award-nominated, critically acclaimed rapper, singer, songwriter, and visual maverick SonReal uncovers the music video for his new single “Can I Get A Witness” today on VEVO. The song is available for purchase HERE through Black Box/Capitol.

Upon release earlier this month, “Can I Get A Witness” began generating immediate buzz landing on Spotify’s Global, US and Canadian viral charts. Spotify showcased the song as part of the coveted “New Music Friday” Playlist along with “Most DefiLitly” and “Hip Hop Hits.” In addition, Apple Music featured it on the “Best of the Week” Playlist. Already, the track has racked nearly 500k cumulative streams and counting across platforms.

Known for his hysterical larger-than-life videos, SonReal upholds this tradition on “Can I Get A Witness”—and then goes even bigger. Rocking in a court room, he presents a wild lyrical case over production from RedOne [Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj] and Rush. As the jury sits astonished, a cadre of characters from his previous internet smashes “Everywhere We Go,” “Whoa Nilly” and “For The Town” (nearly 3.5 million views) make cameos on the witness stand. Not only can he spit alongside the best of them, but he weaves together cinematic storylines by personally playing multiple roles like a musical Wes Anderson hero.

In bold fashion, SonReal unveils The World’s Worst Contest, which absolutely belongs in the Guinness Book of World Records. Celebrating the launch of “Can I Get A Witness,” one lucky winner and a friend will embark on a once-in-a-lifetime 20+ hour roundtrip bus ride to enjoy a weekend in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, home of the notorious Netflix series “Making A Murder.” A “scenic tour of the town on a Segway, dinner for 2 at Taco Bell and a great night’s sleep at the prestigious Lakeview Motel” are promised. If anybody foregoes this prize for some insane and unbelievable reason, they may take $700 USD in lieu of the “experience.” Fans may enter by following SonReal on Spotify, saving “Can I Get A Witness” to their libraries, sharing it across social media with #CanIGetAWitness, and filling out the short entry form.

“Can I Get A Witness” is just the beginning. SonReal is readying his proper U.S. debut for release very soon.

North of the border, SonReal has become a hip-hop phenomenon. He’s been nominated for five JUNO awards, two of which were at the 2016 JUNO’S for “Rap Recording of the Year” and “Video of the Year” for his EP, For The Town. He has garnered a total of eight Much Music Video Award nominations, five of which came in 2014 when he took home MuchFact Video of the Year for “Everywhere We Go.” MTV went so far as to call him, “Drake’s Biggest Competition at the JUNO Awards,” while Huffington Post wrote, “SonReal has his own flow, his own style, his own message. And he’s pretty Damn good at it.” Along the way, he also received glowing praise from Noisey/Vice, The Source, Huffington Post, Verge, Earmilk, HipHopDX, and more. His infectious brand of hip-hop has generated millions of Spotify streams and YouTube views. He’s released a string of buzzworthy projects including, Good News (2012) The Closers (2013) One Long Day (2014), and his 2015 EP, For The Town.
