Blood, Sweat and Heels - Finally!

by Odienne Dina Chisolm
For months Bravo has been teasing us with previews that had most reality heads thirsting for more and on Sunday night, January 5th, Bravo quenched our thirst with the premiere of Blood, Sweat and Heels.

This New York based reality show with brown girl media swag, a variety of personalities and no punches held, is destined to win!

The show consists of six women, a group of up-and-coming movers and shakers in New York's elite circles of real estate, fashion, and media. The cast includes former "video vixen" now realtor Melyssa Ford, real estate partner Brie Bythewood, modeling agency owner Mica Hughes, affordable-style expert Daisy Lewellyn, A Belle in Brooklyn blogger and author Demetria Lucas, and style and pop culture journalist Geneva S. Thomas.

The premiere episode, was more introductory than anything, but it still managed to have action without physical altercations...yet.

Things started getting tense when the women began discussing the subject of men cheating, not a new or surprising topic amongst a group of women, but it keeps things spicy. The majority of the group confessed to going through their boyfriend’s phone, emails, just plain ol’ snooping on the regular, while one, Demetria Lucas, a relationship expert by profession, has never resorted to such behavior. Demetria was already bored with the subject and she made her opinion clear that if there is a need to snoop in a relationship, there is no trust and you need a new relationship.

The women didn’t take kindly to the difference in opinion and the tension grew thickalicious immediately.

Besides the cattiness, which is fun, it’s refreshing to see these independent women who are aggressive self-starters display their intelligence and work towards their goals, while entertaining us in the city that never sleeps. It’s going to be interesting for most viewers who know Melyssa Ford as a sexy video vixen and now she is selling real estate in New York. Hey, we all have to eat.

Bravo definitely gave us an authentic, sassy, comedic show with women filled with a passion for success. Can’t wait for next week!
