No Nicki Minaj...But Nas, Lauryn Hill, Young Jeezy, Big Sean, French Montana, Ma$e, Waka Flocka, Meek Mill, J. Cole and Rick Ross had one Hell of a Party! Summer Jam 2012

Yesterday, June 3rd, was one of music history’s biggest events, Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2012. But how could one of the biggest music events not include some of music’s biggest people…Nicki Minaj.

Lil Wayne, made the last minute decision to pull none other than the Baddest Barbie, Nicki Minaj from Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert which had fans disappointed, but they understood the position taken.

Hot 97’s radio personality, Peter Rosenberg, voiced a very negative opinion of Nicki’s “Starships” song, calling it wack and saying that Nicki is no longer real hip-hop. This was just hours after Nicki tweeted about being excited to perform at Hot 97 Summer Jam. Who disses their line-up before she goes on stage and to EVERYONE? Bad move Rosenberg.

Nicki later tweeted, “I go above and beyond for my fans, but won’t ever go against Wayne’s word. What he says goes. Had a Hell of a f*cking lineup, but we won’t be disrespected.”

Well, even without Ms. Minaj, Summer Jam was soooo on point!

Maino opened the show with full Brooklyn swag and got everyone hyped for the upcoming six hours of music they were about to experience. Nas was able to surprise the 60,000 fans with Lauryn Hill!! Where they do that at? It has been so hard to get Lauryn Hill to appear or fully perform anywhere lately, so for Nasty Nas to be able to accomplish that- KUDOS! The stilettos Lauryn rocked were practically stilts and she walked around in them like she had air jordan’s on …you better work, Lauryn!

The evening was one to be remembered, admired, and respected with Ma$e hitting the stage with French Montana. Big Sean who has been exceptional with hit after hit this whole year, continued to satisfy. Wacka Flacka and Young Jeezy were BIG crowd pleasers, both seemed to have stepped up their stage performance and really engage the audience - as if Wacka needed any more excitement… good look! Young Jeezy surprised the crowd by bringing out T.I. – the A was heavy last night!

A party ain’t a party without Slaughter House. The highly anticipated group took to the stage as Joe Budden told the crowd that they were looking at four of the best rappers in the universe. Pusha T and 2 Chainz came through keeping people on their toes. Shutting the house down was Rick Ross and his MMG crew (Meek Mill always brings something SO extra with his Philly style). Summer Jam ended with a bang when Raekwon and Method Man came out to perform C.R.E.A.M!!! Whew...and that was just a sample of the festivities...
