by Sofroina Timmons
R Max Clothing Line has stepped out from behind the scenes to grace our presence with a larger than life aesthetic through original designs and hand-painted accents. Throughout the entertainment community founder, artist and designer Russell Maxwell of R Max Clothing line has appeared in films such as Stomp The Yard, and on BET's,106 Park. Some of the hottest musical artists such as P.Diddy, Jay Z, 50 Cent to name a few, have all requested custom R Max Clothing designs to debut in their music videos.

R Max Clothing is a signature designer apparel line of t-shirts and form-fitting t-shirt dresses that features extraordinary art pieces influenced by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Hype Williams and numerous talented sought-after photographers.

We can also expect R Max to launch an expansion to his line on a larger scale by transferring his original art onto canvas. He is also developing handbags and accessories for women while expanding the men clothing line with fashion forward cardigans and jackets.

Explain the genesis of R Max?
It began as an influence by the style and visuals from the movie Belly. The first design that was created was of the singer/actress Aaliyah, which spawned other art designs of various artists of the entertainment industry. One day, I was out shopping for a shirt to wear for a night out and I ran across a medium that allowed me to put a design on a t-shirt without degrading the colors within the artwork. Instead of buying one, I decided to make my own. That's how it started, with the overwhelming response I received from my design of Aaliyah.

How do you remain competitive in this market?
The brand is kept unique because I'm not focused on the fashion aspect but the art itself, which distinguishes me from other clothing lines.

What era in fashion does your collection most resemble?
I would rather say the POP-ART era in art.

What was the inspiration for your newest collection?
Inspiration comes from urban/pop culture and music.

What do you think are the biggest trends right now?
Clothing lines that are going back to the basics instead of the logo driven designs i.e. Levis.

What trends are you seriously tired of?
The urban rock star movement (cluttered rhinestones and skulls and bones).

Where can R Max be purchased and at what price points? - - men's shirts start at $40 and women's shirts start at $30.
