Usually the summer is the season music lovers tend to roll down the car windows
and blast the music. It's a time when industry heavy hitters have already done
their time in the studio to ensure a solid summer hit to be played at the backyard
cookouts and after work affairs and let's not forget the bootleg boat
rides. Summertime hits are usually feel-good songs that make you want to make
money, lose a good 10lbs, get fancy and party.
Well, something must be in the water this fall because when you turn on the
radio in November - - it's summer time all over again!
Gucci Mane ft. Nicki Minaj and Pharrell
Although he has checked himself into a drug treatment center in Georgia to deal
with his alleged cocaine addiction, and despite the lack of lyrical mastery
at times, Gucci is consistent with his hits. He has the beats and the hooks
to keep the kids bouncing and the record sales thriving. Haterade is
a club banger, just like Wasted and with Pharrell's
touch and the hot woman of the hour, Nicki Minaj, this song will have us all
on one accord for a while.
Waka Flocka ft. Roscoe Dash and Wale
Waka Flocka has been criticized a little too much in my opinion. He has been
called stupid due to his "non-media savvy" responses on some questions,
the one responsible for "dumbing down" rap and a whole bunch of other
arrows have been thrown in his direction, but he has undoubtedly made noise
since coming into the industry and with or without his mentor and business partner,
Gucci Mane, Waka still keeps the crowd thumping. He can't be dumb if he still
knows how to make money legally and get his paper. With his latest single No
Hands off of his Wakaveli album, Waka teamed up with Wale and newcomer,
Roscoe Dash. The song has a hard beat yet easy flow and it puts you in the mind
of sipping on something nice while using NO HANDS to do whatever it
is you do. Waka, Waka, Flocka, Flocka..
Chris Brown ft. Drake, T.I., Kanye, Fabulous and Andre 3000
First, he made the strong comeback at the BET Awards when he
performed a rendition of songs from the late great Michael Jackson. He won hearts
back for sure once the tears raged down his face as if they were racing each
other - - it was a real cry. Then he let it all hang out with his hit Deuces
in which everyone speculates that he was officially, indirectly talking about
Rihanna letting her know it was over and he was over all the bullshit. We ate
it up. Now he hit us with the remix as if the first one wasn't hot enough, this
remix contains Drake, T.I., Fabulous, Kanye and Andre 3000 - - what! This song
alone can go on tour by itself with features like that. Roll down the car windows
again for Chris Breezy!
Kanye West ft. Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Bon Iver
As usual, there is SO much that can be said about Kanye West. He is ultimately
the most opinionated, arrogant, creative talent around and there is a bond that
we all have with him, like it or not. There is something about Kanye West that
makes you pay attention and the news he generates seems far from publicity stunts
"just because," - - no, the things reported about him, from snatching
mics out of the hands of award participants, to apologizing in every way shape
and form for the next 12 months for doing it, appears to be all genuine. The
thing that made us pay attention in the beginning and still gets us the most
focused on Mr. West is his music. Kanye has a lyrical command with words and
such a play on the English language, you find yourself singing his songs even
the ones that actually "toast to the scumbags." Kanye's upcoming album,
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is sure to make some noise.
In the meantime hits like Monster, See Me Now and more keep us satisfied until
the album drops.
