Come One, Come All, Beach Belles

by Sofroina Timmons
The heat brings “sexy back” in everyone and this summer it’s all about the curves. That’s right! Plus sizes are doing it up this 2010 via beach or tropical setting pool resorts. Missy sizes aren’t the only frames soaking up sunrays, playing beach volleyball in the sand or taking a dip in the water wearing stunning pieces by Beach Belle. Today’s woman isn’t always a size “0”. A woman is happy no matter what size she is and now there’s a swimwear brand that embrace “real sizes” and turns beautiful, hot summer days into fun wear.

One-piece, tankinis, separates, athletic, maternity, specialty (post-mastectomy or mastectomy) and cover ups, you name it, Beach Belle has the right style for your silhouette. Drape yourself in a pop of color wearing floral prints like the “Flower Burst Empire Swim Dress” just enough floral to keep you in stride with 2010 fashion; or the “Beach Belle Domino Empire Swim Dress”, which is a black and white ensemble; or wear the “Beach Belle Sweet Thing” with a twisted bust line for an elegant poolside party look. Whichever one you choose you will be stunned by the quality, fit and the durability that compliments any shape.

Merchandiser and Designer for Beach Belle, as well as for, Suzanne Walker has put her stamp of perfection on all of these wonderful pieces. Walker is a veteran with over 20 years of experience in sales, merchandising and design has kept her name in the fore-front in the swimwear industry. She designs with the insight of boosting confidence, allowing the woman to feel sexy and secure without having to dig too deep in her pockets. Walker is a mother of three, including a set of twins, she definitely understands the changes a woman’s body goes through and how important it is to feel flattering with a comfortable fit.

What was your inspiration for your spring 2010 collection?
Strong women with a beautiful spirit inspire me: women who can nurture their loved-ones, find time to give of themselves to charitable causes, and “bring home the bacon” and fry it up in a pan!

How would you describe the overall feel/vibe of your collection?
Beach Belle 2010 is about high-energy, wearable prints and silhouettes.

Say a little bit about the brand’s name.
The collection is aptly named ‘Beach Belle’. It’s meant to evoke an image of a beautiful and confident woman ready for an energetic dip in the ocean, pool or lake. It’s a little sassier that 'bathing beauty'.

Do you agree that the economic times call for minimalist designs?
I think women need their swimwear shopping to be a means of escaping and in times of difficulty are drawn to fun, bright swimsuits. Of course the economy affects the swimwear industry. If it affects our customers, it affects us. It isn’t as devastating for us however, because I’ve never lost sight of the need for affordable swimwear. Beach Belle has always been and will continue to be moderately priced.

Do you design with an age in mind or lifestyle?
Never an age, always a lifestyle…I’m constantly awed by octogenarians who swim to stay in shape as well as young women who prefer more modest coverage. My goal is to address each of our customers’ individual desires.

What's next for your collection?
Lingerie is a possibility, but for now we’re going to get more sophisticated and fashionable with our ‘Select’ line and younger and hipper with our ‘junior’ line for next year.

What swimwear trends are you seriously tired of?
MONOKINI’s!!! Please go away and never come back!!

Give us three words that best describe the brand.

Where can your collection be purchased?
Beach Belle is available exclusively at - - separates MSRP from $28 and sets and one pieces at $68.
