Bonjour Petal Spring 2006
Interviewed and Written By Yvette Coleman
A nickname from an ex-boyfriend, Bonjour Petal, lets you
know that the past can still be beautiful! Julie Ewald, a
beach girl at heart, has created a look that is built around
ease and inner beauty. Ewald has been a stylist for 10 years
for commercials, dance shows, print and fashion shows, which
prompted her to do it for her self. And it just kind of evolved
and her company has taken a life of its own. Two years ago
she was at her friend’s booth then she became a custom
lingerie designer for Barney’s, (she ships to Barney’s
more than four times a year), and finally now she is in some
of the high end boutiques such as New York and L.A.
She has a spontaneous style and uses fabrics that grab her
eyes and fit the particular look that she is going for with
her style. She observes textures and hues and looks for the
style that can be born. From her stylist background she always
thinks, “Okay, now what can I make out of that?”
Her collection is a mix of all of the brands that are out
now. In her words, “It’s about lines… very
simple lines, and made to fit very well, it’s about
being versatile. The cut is made to be forgiving and doesn’t
over power the person and you’re able to be unique and
be yourself. The way you look and the way you feel comes through.
It becomes who you are. You can wear it out, at home…you
can feel special wherever you go.”
Bonjour Petal is now available at Barneys NY, LA, as well
as specialty boutiques across the United States, England and
Canada.
