Belabumbum Spring 2006

Belabumbum means "beautiful bottom." When they
got started nearly four years ago, the bum was the new erogenous
zone. Two college friends, Alyssa Weiss and Heidi Rauch, who
strongly believe in well being, laughter, and creativity,
came together and created Belabumbum in 2001. Heidi’s
South American adventures and tales of better fabrics, cuts,
and comfort in sunny Brazil inspired Belabumbum’s products.
In 2001 the two headed to Rio to begin their research and
development and to get inspiration from all things Brazilian!
As part of their education was a foray into designing costumes
for dancers, which allowed them to get a heightened understanding
for the female body, while becoming very conscious of silhouettes.
Belabumbum has comfortable, colorful and fashion forward pieces
ranging from vibrant printed separates to pretty lace.
This versatile ready to wear collection can be worn just
to lounge around or it can be worn out and about town. Examples
are the super soft lace with super girly lime and lavender
with gold accents, with light tulle, that can be worn as outerwear
as well. Retail ranges from $30 to $50. They have styles that
are creative and have amassed a following with their basic
cotton, micro fiber and the lace, tulle, lingerie and ready-to-wear
lines.
Belabumbum makes sure that customers are super comfortable
with careful attention to substance and support. Between the
two partners they can make sure that top and bottom fit perfectly.
Their focus will continue to be comfort and support even as
they make a move into maternity, swimwear and silhouettes
of all kinds. Items in the lingerie line retail from $14 -
$63. Maternity offerings start at $8 for a terrific thong,
and end at $64 for a captivating chemise. Swimwear sets retail
from $75 to $105.
