Rimmel Product Launch
Written by Yvette Coleman

Smart, fun and easy to fall in love with! On the windiest day this fall, I joined forty women from all walks of life within the fashion industry to try a new product line introduced by Rimmel. Located at Double 7, a cozy and much needed warm contrast to the brutal cold air outside. Inside Double 7, gratis makeovers are being given to the ladies to demonstrate immediately the newest capabilities of their line up.
It is a pearl influenced foundation called RECOVER Illuminating Anti-Fatigue Foundation with vitamins, C, E and K to give the skin the skin that “What!! don’t you wake up like this?” glow that we all see in the movies where the actresses wake up so incredible and sexy with a dewy glow. Now that look exists in real life and without the six hours in a professional makeup chair to get it. An exclusive brightening complex immediately adds radiance with added pearls to reflect light for a luminous glow. It comes in a small container, no larger than your cell phone, so it’s easy to grab and go and shove in your purse. The feel of the foundation is light and smooth and takes only a few here and there spots to gain maximum coverage. It contains anti aging ingredients that “re-plump” and rejuvenate the skin, especially great when the weather is harsh. Our faces take the immediate brunt of damage whether it’s from sun, extreme wind (like that night…Whew!), and cold. This allows you to be covered with protection within your foundation.

The one draw back is the Shades’ range! This product is wonderful, but it lacks color range for any woman past a medium tan (think sun kissed Mariah Carey).

Available shades: Ivory, Porcelain, True Ivory, Soft Beige, Classic Beige and Sand $8.03. But there’s some good news: gloss liners and mascara are universal in every woman’s purse! New Vinyl Jelly Gloss Lip Liner from Rimmel is soft and subtle without that harsh lip line the other brands can sometimes leave behind. The Vinyl Jelly Gloss Lip Liner goes on smooth and blends seamlessly and gently stays put with a high-shine veneer and flawless finish

Use Rimmel Vinyl Jelly Gloss Lip Liner alone to fill in lips for a long-lasting finish or pair with your favorite Rimmel gloss for a polished pout. Available in nine kiss-worthy shades:
• Watermelon Be A Star (002) - intensifies Sweet Jelly in Jammy
• Rum raisin Choccie (008) - sweetens Vinyl Lip in Mmmmm\
• Neutral nude Fudge (007)- perfectly compliments Sweet Jelly in Sweetie

Now to one of my most favorite tools in my makeup bag: mascara! I wasn’t a mascara fan until I moved to New York 5 years ago. Now I don’t feel finished without it…almost a little naked …the ladies will understand. You say, “Why not?” I have the curly and short lash, a makeup artist’s worst nightmare because I was always jittery and it would come clumpy or just made my eyes burn or itch or both! How have I done without quality mascara for so long? Not quite sure but as I was there when the wonderful makeup artist applied the New Volume Flash Mascara to my lashes and they went from 0 to 60 in three strokes! The brush was very soft and amazing enough the makeup artist didn’t have to continuously reapply. 1.2.3 and she was done. I know what you’re thinking “she’s a professional…she can do mascara in the dark!” So I went home with a sample or two (black and brown) and tried for myself. It was simple as 1.2.3. extreme with flamboyant volume in just seconds. Eyes become electrifying in a flash! Eyelashes aren’t left stiff and clumpy. They are soft to the touch with maximum coverage sans the “Tammy Faye” look!

The patented new brush applicator and advanced formula rev lashes up to the max in an instant. The unique Lock& Load™ formula fuses volume-producing waxes and polymers into a thermal-mechanical complex, delivering increased and improved adhesion over conventional formulas for instantaneous volume.

Volume Flash Mascara instantly bonds to the lashes, eliminating the need for multiple applications. Lashes are up to five times thicker in a stroke.

The patented new brush applicator delivers maximum volume in minimal time. The wand's built-in reservoir system deposits a high dose of mascara with the very first stroke. The unique, four-cut brush combs through lashes, separating and evenly distributing the product from root to tip. No clogging, clumping or flaking, just hour after hour of smudge-free volume and wear.

Three shades take lashes from 0 to sexy in seconds: Black (001), Brown (002) and Sapphire Blue (004). Ophthalmologist-tested Volume Flash Mascara ($6.68 M.S.R.P.) will be available February 2006 at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. Visit www.RimmelLondon.com for store locations.

The presentation was warm and inviting, with representatives from Coty and Rimmel ready to accommodate all of us with information on the new thing coming or handing fashionistas every ten minutes the “amazing drink,” as it was known at our table. The representatives were adept at relaxing our thoughts and settling us down from the stress of New York life. We strung together our own sets of pearls…some thought it was therapeutic (i.e. Betty Ford activity as the young models sashayed in all black and Rimmel beautified). All in all it was fun to see the pearls fly …literally!
