T.I.T.S. Brand (Two in the Shirt) was created and launched by Marek Grubel in August 2006 at the Magic Tradeshow in Las Vegas. T.I.T.S. was originally a graffiti crew, the original acronym was “Trapped in the System.” T.I.T.S. embraced the business motto of “sex sells” and the ultimately changed the brands unmanly graphics to include tasteful nudes into the brands graphics. “We are inspired by everyday life, things we enjoy doing, experiences we have been through, mainstream culture along with under ground culture.”
Does the controversial name hamper the brand?
Will T.I.T.S. Brand will be able to crossover into
the mainstream market? Can we imagine the brand in
a Dr. Jays or a MACYS?
T.I.T.S. BRAND is in Dr Jays, it is also in Up Against
The Wall, Metro Park and Man Alive, which are all
mall stores. It took a while for people to get over
the initial shock of the name, but once they got the
product on the shelves and saw the sell through rate,
they had no problem with the name and reordering.
We are here to push the envelope and thus fur the
envelope is wide open!!
Who do you envision wearing this collection?
We dub our selves a crossover brand, so I envision
several different types of people wearing it: Lupe
Fiasco, Linkin Park etc. We try to set no boundaries
with the brand, that’s why are not a heavy logo
tee brand, we are graphic driven.
Please finish this sentence: The celebrity
that best embodies our brand is…
The perfect celeb would be Kanye because he bridges
the gap, he made sure he didn’t get pigeon holed
as a rapper, he has been able to cross over into pop,
rock, hipster, hip hop etc…he embodies exactly
what we try to do as a brand and make if available
for all walks of life
What trends are you seriously tired of and
hope will remain in 2008?
Taliban scarves, they were cool for a minute, but
over done if you ask me.
What trends do you expect will be big next
season?
People will be aloud to have one item of ‘flair’
in their outfit, either a graphic tee and clean jacket
and jeans, or a graphic jacket and clean tee and jeans
etc…fashion started to become an eye soar and
now it is time to clean it up!!!
What's next for T.I.T.S. Brand?
We are doing the Bread and Butter tradeshow in Spain,
so we are planning on expanding into the Europe market
heavy. Beach towels for s/s ‘09 and outer wear
for f/w ‘09, really clean outerwear.
