San & Soni was a long awaited dream that came true. The company was started by the couple Inderjeet and Sonali after a decade of experience at well-known fashion companies such as Coach, Express, and Liz Claiborne. San & Soni designs high end women’s wear that features the best fabrics, details, and quality. You can see and feel the passion and dedication that the duo incorporates into their collection.

"My family is in the gemstone business and they always desired me to follow their footsteps, but I knew at a very early age that I was meant for apparel design. I would often create fashions of my mother’s sari's and play around with all types of fabrics which inspired me to take my passion serious. I attended FIT and I knew someday I wanted to start my own collection." Sonali recalls.

For the fall/ winter 2008 collection San & Soni interpret 50’s Hollywood glamour with the 80’s retro infusion. Sonali explains that the duo juxtaposed “the unexpected mix of two such distinct eras of time” with a style sensibility that managed to “keep [the collection] simple, comfortable, elegant [with] subtle accents of playfulness and wit.”

Sophisticated yet playful, this collection presents a color palette of black, champagne, smoky grey shades of blue, violet and shots of gold. Styles include bell jar shape dresses, pleated flowing blouses, slim pants with slouchy waists, and oversized triangle design knit blouses. Some fabrics incorporated into the collection are wool jersey, metallic foil printed jersey, double georgette and silk habotai.

What trends seem to occupy the market right now?
Slouchy, ankle length mannish pants, ultra-feminine long and lean skirts and sheer sexy blouses. Dresses are carrying forward from summer with much cleaner look; they look off-the-hook when you pair them up with three quarter length coat!

Are there any trends you are bored of?
Too much unnecessary voluminous shapes…

What's next for San & Soni?
Build up more International accounts and make the collection globally accessible. We would like to keep our focus on women’s wear for good few coming years but that does not mean menswear is not in back of our head. As they say, all good things flourish with time…
