Christina Liquori Summer 2008
Written by Yvette N. Coleman

With a poetic name like Christina Liquori it seems natural to have your name on something beautiful for the world to see. Christina began designing after she earned her degree for Apparel Design & Technology at Florida State University. She submitted a few of her swimsuits to Sports Illustrated, and two of them made it into the magazine in 2005. From there she decided to start her company! She and fellow FSU Merchandising graduate, Elizabeth O’Neill, put their dreams into reality and created their 2006 collection that they presented at the Miami Swim show.

Today they are very successful with tons of press and unique 50's inspired designs that bring that little bit of edge into the swim industry with fun fresh new ideas!

For spring ‘08 the designs are fun with a variety of prints referencing a retro and vintage appeal. Christina explains: “I think the girly, sexy cuts catch our customer’s eye. We also allow the customer to mix and match tops and bottoms. You can mix sizes and you can also mix colors/prints to make your swimsuit as unique as you are!”

They suits offer a great fit - - once you try them on you’ll fall in love! They are comfortable and make you look great at the same time!

What do you think are the biggest trends in swimwear for spring '08?
I think ruffles are in! Cute girly prints are also a must. You can expect some plaids and polka-dots this summer.

What trends are you hoping will vanish soon?
I am tired of the skull trend. I thought it was cute at first, but it has been around for a few years now!

What's next for Christina Liquori?
We are going to continue to come up with great new suits in fun prints and colors. I would love to do a lingerie line, but it will be a couple more years before I can focus on that!

Words of wisdom from Christina Liquori:
“It is very challenging to start up a fashion company. I have definitely learned to be a little more patient! It doesn’t happen overnight! I would encourage anyone to give it a shot though…you don’t want to look back and wonder 'what if?' - - Just go for it!”
