Swarovski – Passages of Night
Written By: Lisa L. Genese

Swarovski has done it again!!! Swarovski has managed yet again to perfect the gift of hand cutting crystal, and the capturing of light as well as taking an ordinary clutch, bracelet or necklace and making it Magical! The inspiration for the Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 collection is the woman of the night and Swarovski included hints of inspiration from punk rock. Swarovski added innovative shades of purple Heliotrope, Bermuda Blue, and shades of grey. Swarovski’s blacks are not always black and are instead inhabited by mysterious glints.

Swarovski has also brought back the robot charm as Elvis, since last season’s girl robot did so well! The rings are much more creative giving them a 3d effect and we adore the ornate clutch bags with a bow closure adorned with all white crystal. The workmanship is hard to replicate.

For a second season, Swarovski has done a Red Carpet Collection, which is only worn by the A-list celebs. Items are beautifully handmade and are not sold anywhere - - the woman that wears this work of art becomes a jewel herself.

Daniel Swarovski has a limited edition collection that is sold in only four stores in the US one located in the Rockefeller center in NYC. All the pieces are not only handmade and strung, but the leather on all the exquisite bags are exotic skin with intricate detailing of crystal combination. One of Swarovski’s pieces of art is a tie necklace, composed of large pyramidal crystals that run the length of a long voluminous pampille, or its ultra-long, extra-chic version. In addition to the jewelry piece are a violet crocodile “Fiction” clutch bag set off with an enormous Point cut crystal, or the “Fabulous” model, with its embroidered crystals interlaced with chains of jet crystal and its long metal clap.
Finally for this season, Swarovski is launching its new signature the “Swanflower”. The Swan became an instantly recognizable symbol of Swarovski in 1989 when the company introduced it to mark the progression of the brand into a new era. It links together the worlds of fashion, design and crystal living. Daniel Swarovski explains: “It adds body and soul to the organization, and provides a strategic design base that will provide inspiration for all our lines and collections, season after season.”

With the exception of the Red carpet Collection and the Daniel Swarovski line. You may find all the other beautiful handmade crystal pieces at any of the 100 stores across the country.
