Accessory Niche
Written by Yvette N. Coleman

In the world of fashion one can find many pieces to experiment with in order to bring about one’s unique personality and style. We found a collection of handbags that will aid any fashionista’s quest for the perfect accessory. Introducing Accessory Niche, a collection of classic yet modern styles of unique handbags - - the brainchild of Shara N. Brown, a native Houstonian. Brown developed the brand at her home in 2003 and it has since grown into a full-fledged brand for women’s accessories including the Niche Essentials collection of small leather goods and cosmetics bags.

Brown designs with a keen eye and finds inspiration from the runways and the different trends found on the city streets. She incorporates details of those trends with her personal flair to create the perfect accessory. Brown adds, “The Accessory Niche woman appreciates the expansion of a classic silhouette with incredible functionality and trendsetting appeal. She carries herself with a bit of individuality and enjoys a product that provides longevity.”

Brown’s design efforts landed her as a finalist in the 2008 Independent Handbag Designer Awards for her Nubuck Hobo in the category for Best Handmade Handbag. She has since branched out her success into creating affordable luxury items for her customers. Brown is living her dreams and continues to design and produce each item with the same passion she had on day one!

What do you think will be the biggest trends for 2008?
Bright colors and bold prints continue to reign as two of the biggest trends of 2008.

What trends are you seriously tired of?
I cannot honestly say that I am tired of any particular trend. Each and every one, old and new, tends to become a part of an individual’s style allowing that individual to express who they really are. Trends seem to carry neighboring trends into each new season allowing the old one to still somehow exist. Consider last year’s leopard craze leading us right into this year’s tribal.

Words of wisdom from Shara N. Brown of Accessory Niche:
As the designer and manufacturer of Accessory Niche handbags, I spend an enormous amount of time in the studio. If you are a maker of your own products, try to find areas where you can cut down on production time. There’s a whole world out there waiting to inspire you.

The latest collection from Accessory Niche, The Niche I Series, can be purchased online at accessoryniche.com and ranges from $230 - $415.
