Hangtags for Humanity and Apple Bottoms Announce The Launch of the Wendy Williams “Contribution Smart T”

Hangtags For Humanity (HTFH) and Apple Bottoms introduced the Wendy Williams “Contribution Smart T “ to benefit the “What Smart Girls Know” campaign . The signature hot pink tee bears a likeness of the leading Smart Girl, radio and VH1 personality, Miss Wendy Williams. The “Smart T” is sold exclusively on www.applebottoms.com at $36.00 with 10% of the proceeds benefiting the campaign.

The “What Smart Girls Know” campaign was developed by Tonya R. Miller of Hangtags for Humanity. The mission of “What Smart Girls Know” is to provide financial awards to young women between the ages of 16-24 who have take action on issues that impact their lives and their community. The goal is to raise $50,000 to grant several awards between $500 to $5000 to young women who develop peer - to- peep programs. Founder and Executive Director Tonya R. Miller says,

“We are spearheading the countermovement to combat the ‘dumbing down’ syndrome that has become so pervasive among young women. We encourage empowerment! There are many young women who do, in fact, make good, positive choices. What we aim to do is shine a light on them, holding them up as an example that young women do have options.

Despite the Oprahs and Condis, some girls still are not getting the picture. This is why peer-to-peer mentorship is one of the key elements in the Smart Girls campaign.”

Syndicated gossip maven and mouthpiece, Wendy Williams, expresses a similar opinion, “All of us have made some not-so-wise choices in our lives, particularly when we were young and trying to figure it all out. But if we can help young women do better for themselves and provide a little guidance and motivation, then why shouldn’t we? As older women, we owe it to our younger sisters to share the benefit of our experiences, good and bad.”

Alize, one of Wendy’s corporate partners, has also signed on partner with HTFH. Brand Director Michelle Murray adds, “The partnership with Hangtags For Humanity and What Smart Girls Know represents an ideal opportunity for Alize to demonstrate its commitment to the well being of our consumers and the community at large. Empowering women to make responsible choices is an essential part of the Alize lifestyle.”
