Feraud Spring
2007
Written by Yvette N. Coleman
Made for the self-assured women, designer Jean
Pierre Marty has an immaculate career
in the world of fashion beginning with work on
couture dresses and gowns in Elizabeth Arden Red
Dior salons on Fifth Ave.
NYC. Marty has had notable success
with Yves Saint Laurent and Kenzo
and then, he assumed the Director position in
the “prêt-à-porter” division
for Guy Laroche.
Jean Pierre Marty was appointed the Artistic
Director of Feraud in 2005,
and has employed his talents for tailored fits
and color into his new collection for spring.
This season he brings to us a nautical
theme from vacations across the world
whether it’s a cruise aboard a yacht or
on safari in the jungle. The
personality of his collection is largely influenced
by his background and upbringing by an artistic
Mediterranean family.
Sharing common features with Louis Féraud
(who is also a man of the South – from the
French Arles region –, fond of painting
and attentive to his contemporaries), Jean Pierre
Marty presents in his collections a vision of
the woman that keeps the same ideals of the brand.
Feminine-masculine, graphic features of the abstract
painting with its colored printed papers, black
and white, glamour...all contribute to a very
female, “Parisian” style,
a sort of draft of a new concept of “contemporary
couture.”
When we asked Marty how he felt about women’s’
fashion and trends, he remarked:
“I think the pendulum
is swinging and women are getting excited about
getting dressed again. I see women wearing beautifully
tailored clothing in luxurious fabrics, glamorous
cocktail dresses and evening gowns saturated with
wonderful colors, interesting prints and shaped
in feminine silhouettes.
He continues: “The
modern woman is sophisticated and elegant and
puts herself together confidently - - often with
a twist of Parisian chic!”
Feraud also has a very successful Feraud men’s
line with plans to distribute in the US market
including new retail stores all over the world; specifically
in the US, Feraud Boutiques in New York Store
and Beverly Hills.
Words of wisdom from Jean Pierre Marty
of Feraud:
“I am responsible for
the wholesale and retail operation of Feraud in
North America and feel lucky to be involved with
all aspects of the business, including working
with the designer and selling to both retailers
and the actual women that purchase Feraud apparel
in our Boutiques. Fashion is always exciting
and unpredictable; it is a challenge to balance
the creative and financial aspects of the business
and wonderful when the formula works!”
Feraud can be purchased at Feraud Boutiques
and Fine Specialty and Department stores worldwide.
