Whether
you found his music when he was called 2Pac,
Makaveli, or simply Pac,
you can remember the gleam of hope along with
strain of sadness that exuded from his young
prolific soul. You had to acknowledge
him with his street poetry of
growing up in violence; his voice was loud, blatant
and truthful about the pains of society in communities
across the country.
He was raw and talented and wise beyond his age.
Some could not handle his descriptions of life,
called him “trouble” especially since
the law found him in many conflicts. His fans
adored him and found comfort in his words; they
felt as if someone finally spoke for them…and
to them. He led a troubled life that ended in
the violence that he spoke of just before his
life turned around. He is an enigma and for that
reason, Tupac Amaru Shakur still lives through
the music that is heard everyday; he lives through
all the fans that still remember him; and now
his legacy will continue with the Makaveli
Branded collection.
Makaveli Branded is the movement formed by the
slain artist’s mother, Ms. Afeni Shakur,
in 2003 as an avenue to continue Tupac’s
legacy. As fashion is a great part of
the hip hop culture, Makaveli Branded will continue
the message and the movement that inspires talent
and enhances the talents of the youth.
The brand is also involved with various community
based events and grass root efforts that are consistent
to Pac’s vision. The brand utilizes Pac’s
likeness, poetry, concepts, and some of his lyrics
within the design.
