Ondademar means "waves of the sea," which

brand. Pily explains the nuances of the name:
“Not the ones that break against the sand or shore,
but the soft, big movements that happen at high seas.
Our inspiration has always been the sea, the water,
so we felt it was a great name that could “move”
us to make great things. Also, “Onda” is
kind of a high. Natural nice high that you get from
nature, from feeling great. Something good that is happening.”
Designer Pily’s simple love
for water and the beach has grown into a successful
swimwear company that sells in both South America and
the U.S. Raised near the beaches of Columbia, the inspirations
are clear: exotic colors and patterns with cultural
influences.
The inspiration for Summer ’06 includes the various
locales of travel throughout the world, memories, photos
and cultural experiences. This collection is relaxed,
mellowed and readily gives the wearer a sense of comfort.
“We want to present a lifestyle that
is less complicated, less materialistic and more eager
in the pursuit of exotic experiences, unfamiliar territories
and values other cultures.”
Ondademar has been featured in editorials of fashion
magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan,
In-style, Shape, Fitness, Seventeen, Bazaar, Marie Clarie
and others. The collection was the Sports
Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover for 2002
the year the company made itsr U.S debut!
What sets the company apart from the other swim companies?
Pily explains:
“I think that South American swimwear fashion
has very strongly penetrated the market in the US. A bit
smaller bodies, sexy suits that are “chic” and
the way we use colors has opened up many doors in the US
markets as well as Europe, Australia and the Mediterranean.
That “Latin flair” has captivated a lot of
attention.”

which will launch for 2007 in U.S and Europe.
