Lands’ End
2006 Swim Collection
Written by Yvette N. Coleman
It’s winter and it’s late in the evening - -
so whose thinking about a swimsuit? If you’re like most
people this time of the year, you’re trying to put on
as many clothes as possible, right? Anyway, my photographer
and I make it to QT, a quiet and little spot off of Broadway
for a Lands’ End event.
Inside the air is reminiscent of a tropical day at the beach.
The surroundings are very chic and conducive to relaxing a
customer into trying on a suit! Lounge chairs are covered
with luxuriously soft beach towels with bananas and papayas
on the side. There are beach balls floating in the heated
pool…ahhh! Dear, Summer, I cannot wait to see you again.
This is exotic and comfortable, just like Lands’ End
suits. This season it looks as if we are going to be comfortable
without trading sexy.
The cuts on the suits are reminiscent of the very classy and
sophisticated 50’s, giving full coverage where it’s
needed. I ask Rachael and Michelle, the two models who sashay
back and forth (very nice girls), what they think of the fit.
They unanimously agree that Lands’ End gives a perfect
fit: the fabric is sleek and comfortable, which makes for
a flattering silhouette.
The 2006 Lands’ End swim collection was inspired by
the look and feel of the South Seas. It features bold hues
of blue, turquoise, pinks, corals and classic navy and whites.
The newest silhouettes of the collection are the tanks, which
allow the customer to mix and match their selections. Other
choices include bandeaus, halters and don’t forget a
variety of bikini bottoms and swim shorts.’
Lands’ End takes the anxiety out of shopping for that
perfect suit. This means you don’t have to worry about
that horrible fluorescent light and trick mirror. You can
shop online and sort the entire collection, mix it up to your
style and body shape. Even more admirable is Lands’
End’s use of the new XLA performance fabric that naturally
resists chlorine and fading, creating a durable and more resilient
suit that never loses it’s shape.
