Summer Ready: 5 Tips For Mending Those Broken Resolutions
Written By Kenyatta D. Pious |

As the mercury rises, many of us become bitter because we
know that we only went to the gym for one week after New Year’s. If
only we could have been loyal for a few months then maybe our
stomachs wouldn’t be so portly. If only we could’ve
grabbed that light beer or snacked on peanuts not potato chips. So
many regrets! So what do you do when it is clear that
summer is around the corner and you are not summer
ready?
We know too well about being that one-weeker gym guy who vanishes
as soon as he remembers the lust that is only found in the
juiciest pork chops, burgers and fried anything. Besides,
while that week made us feel morally good, our abs didn’t
change overnight. We need a quick fix and fast!
There are a few tricks that you can begin with that will immediately
help shed unwanted body fat and ultimately get you into that
outfit you have had for two seasons, but have not been able
to fit it. Remember to consult your physician before
beginning any diet or workout routine. |

- Drink at least 8 glasses of water. Water makes you
feel full and you won’t want to eat as much. Not
to mention water has been known to clear up skin and it is
essential to the normal metabolic tasks that your body undertakes.
- Don’t buy potato chips because you will eat potato
chips. If you are serious about eating healthier, have
a spring-cleaning of sorts. Replace your bad snacks
with healthier snacks such as fruit and yogurt. We
recommend Yoplait fat free yogurt.
- Eat less portions! Take something to go or ask the
waiter for a kid portion. This one act will help you considerably. Eat
three meals per day. Never skip meals. Eating
three meals with light snacks in between keeps your metabolism
operating the way it should.
- Cut our soda. If you replace soda with water,
you will notice an immediate drop in weight because
water has no calories while a can of soda has 120
and many of us do not just drink one can's worth.
- Sorry, we tried to fool you, but you still have
to exercise. How about walking whenever you
can? We know in this fast-paced world it is
difficult to find time to exercise, but exercise is
essential! A brisk walk will rejuvenate you.
However, it is ideal that you set aside at least 30
minutes every other day for some form of simple exercise.
By the way, ab muscles are the only muscle that can
be worked on everyday.

The bad news is that there is no quick fix. If
you want a better body, you need to put some work into getting
it. That said, there is a better body for everybody: it just
requires a pragmatic response to achieve it. The first
step should always be to consult your doctor to determine your
ideal body weight, ability and limitations. These steps
will help you to get the body you want, but at the end of the
day, it is up to you! Wanting a killer bod so that you
can walk shirtless or so you can wear those tight jeans is
wonderful, but a better body usually means a healthier
you and that is all that really matters. |
