Expose Beauty: Elegant,
Sexy and Fun
Yvette N. Coleman
What does the name of your collection mean?
The collection name: Pure Beauty – Spring/Summer 06.
[The] collection character is sweet and delicate. Colors play
a fundamental role in creating a rainbow of pastels. Our designs
are cut to flatter and enhance female curves.
How did you get started in the lingerie fashion industry?
The idea of doing something entrepreneurial has always interested
me and so I began to look for a way to match my creative instincts,
love of beautiful fabrics, style and fashion especially in
the intimate apparel fields.
Because I was born in Europe – Poland, I learned that
European women have a unique relationship with lingerie. It
is an essential part of their wardrobe. They pay close attention
to details like good quality lace and originality.
My dream and goal was to create a unique line of lingerie,
something outstanding, always different and full of surprises.
What was your inspiration for your Spring 2006 collection?
Every time I visit Europe, I draw inspiration from the mosaic
of cultures and international way of life. However, exquisite
laces and fabrics I use for my collection, I find by searching
all over the world, visiting every possible fabric trade show.
This time I was trying to bring together elegance, sexiness
and fun.
How does your line position itself amongst the powerhouses?
Some of the top lingerie lines in the market are Victoria
Secret, Fredericks of Hollywood, Cosabella, and Chantelle.
Where does your collection fit in?
The quality and originality of our product compares to Cosabella,
Chantelle and LaPerla, the only difference is that our company
is young and at this moment it’s on the way to success.
Where can your collection be purchased?
Our collection can be purchased in boutiques, specialty stores
and our website: www.exposebeauty.com
What trends do you expect will be big next season?
It’s hard to predict fashion trends, but in my opinion
some may turn to darker colors, and become more sophisticated
then ever. Laces and fabrics used for lingerie might be embroidered
with some Celtic symbols and signs.
Let’s talk about Lingerie Americas (LA). How
long have you been a part of the event?
We have been presenting our collections at Lingerie Americas
for 2 years but before we were attending Intima America show
at Jacob Javits Center.
It seems like regular design houses advertise on
billboards, in magazines etc., but a lot of our staff hasn’t
heard of the majority of the lingerie collections we’re
focusing on. How do lingerie brands bring awareness to their
collection? Is it necessary for lingerie designers to take
part in trade shows such as LA? If so, why?
Yes, the best way to bring attention to your collection is
attending the trade shows not only in US, but also all around
the Europe. The trade show is the place where you meet new
customers and have a chance to see and talk to your regular
customers. Another few ways are: advertisements and editorial
in different magazines.
What's next for your collection?
At this moment I would not want to reveal what's next. It
is something I started working on. All I can say is that next
collection will be feminine, luxurious, and outstanding because
of new shapes and patterns.
Do you have any words of advice or wisdom for someone
trying to break into your profession or do what you do on
a daily basis?
Starting your own business is not an easy thing but it is
possible if the person is ready to take a risk. It is a quite
of commitment and involves many changes. Never get discouraged
by your competition, concentrate on how to beat it.
You really have to be passionate about what you do - give
it your all and hold nothing back.
